| Rules
of thumb for approaching video in-situ
It
is all about respondent comfort….
- The
respondent must know absolutely what they are getting
into.
- Consider:
- Upfront
focus groups
- Phone
calls by the moderator
- Encouraging
them to have others around
- The
respondent controls the video.
- ‘Moderographer’ – have
the moderator be the videographer.
- By
combining roles, make the respondent more comfortable
by introducing less people into the environment.
- Puts
onus on interviewer to have comfort level with equipment.
- Briefing/training
observers
- Any
people that do accompany the moderator should understand
basic interviewing techniques – brief them beforehand.
- Leave
contact information for follow-up phone calls, email,
etc.
Why
use video in Presentations Inserting
still images and video in presentations can help you get your
message across because:
- images
capture the emotional tone of the interview
- viewers
can see first hand, body language and facial expression
- they
add a sense of having attended the qualitative sessions for
those who could not be there
- use
of images can enhance the impact of presentations and client
buy-in
- it
can also help to ensure that the ‘message’ can
be easily distributed throughout large complex organizations
- it
can help you keep interest up during presentations
- you
will need to use less text
